This Privacy Policy explains how Examino ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Android application. By using Examino, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

When you register and use Examino, we collect the following information:

• Account Information: Your name, email address (via Google Sign-In), college name, city, and semester.
• Device Information: A unique device identifier used to enforce single-device access.
• Usage Data: Questions answered, accuracy, bookmarks, study time, and chapter progress — used to show your performance statistics.
• AI Interactions: Text you submit when using the Ask AI feature is sent to a third-party AI service (OpenAI) to generate responses. We do not store these conversations permanently.

• To create and manage your account and grant access to course content.
• To track your study progress, performance, and quiz history.
• To enforce single-device login and prevent unauthorized account sharing.
• To display your ranking on the semester leaderboard.

All data is stored securely on Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Auth), which uses industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled entirely by Google Sign-In.

Access to your data is restricted to authorised administrators only, and is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Examino uses the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase — authentication, database, and cloud messaging.
• Google Sign-In — secure login without a password.
• OpenAI (ChatGPT API) — powers the Ask AI feature for instant explanations.
• Google Play In-App Updates — delivers app updates through the Play Store.

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy and data handling practices.

6. AI-Generated Content

The AI MCQ Generator and Ask AI features use the OpenAI API. When you use these features, your input (topic text, selected question, or typed query) is sent to OpenAI's servers to generate a response. Please avoid submitting personally sensitive information through these features. OpenAI's usage policy applies to all AI interactions.

7. Children's Privacy

Examino is intended for college-level students (18 years and older). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us immediately.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Submit a complaint or suggestion through the in-app Complaint feature.

9. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If your account is deleted by an administrator or at your request, your personal data and progress records are permanently removed from our systems.
